Prayerful Attitude
In the early morning I am in service of that
which is not the object of mind and words,
yet by whose grace all words and speech shine.
That has been unfolded in Vedas as not this, not this,
That one who is the light of all lights,
That one who is not subject to birth,
That one who is not subject to decline,
That one who has been there before everything,
That one who lends its presence to everything.
I am this Brahman alone,
not the assemblage of body mind sense complex
or the five elements from where they came.
I salute that sun like consciousness,
which banishes the darkness of ignorance,
that which is limitless ,ancient, unchanging,
that which is infallible and infinitely spread.
like even a snake appear on the rope
Universe appears on the adhiśtānā of this Brahman
I am this Brahman alone,
not the assemblage of body mind sense complex
or the five elements from where they came.
May longing not become a spiritual romanticism
May the vision not happen through a duality prism
May the reason for sadānā be for freeing, not seeing
May my sadānā be in the moment of being
May the elaborate rituals generate invisible grace
May my verbal bhajans create beautiful space
May my mental worship give relief from rat race
I am this Brahman alone,
not the assemblage of body mind sense complex
or the five elements from where they came.
May prayer be an action that ignite my inner flame
May I surrender to the omniscient with 108 names
May the yearning for freedom get stronger
May the seeking of infinite get clearer
May svarūpa and tatasta lakshana are praised
May the specific form be described
May a feeling of protection is established
May the impediments of life be removed
May the action on altar alter my interior
May prayer be no longer a series of discrete actions
May my life have prayerful attitude expressed in all transactions
I am this Brahman alone,
not the assemblage of body mind sense complex
or the five elements from where they came.
May these violent metaphors be destroyed in my day
'I threw off the bed covers
I jumped in to the shower
I grabbed a bite to eat
I ran out to hit the road
I cranked out emails
I beat the traffic
I threw something together
May I graduate to have a prayerful living everyday
May I sit still, look at the organs of action, hands
May the goddess of abundance resides at the tips of my fingers
May that prosperity be backed by goddess of knowledge
May my hands be supported by Govinda
the one who is found in words of Vedas
who is the truth of myself
May I touch mother earth gently
with an attitude of not to be a burden
May all holy rivers enter the water shower
May I rinse the body with the holy water
May I wear Kumkum, Bhasma, flowers and jewels
May I decorate the indweller within
May I eat mindfully as an inner yajña
the form that everyone worships,
which is the truth of myself
May I abide in this Niśta .
May I pray to have more of you
and less of me everyday.
I am this Brahman alone,
not the assemblage of body mind sense complex
or the five elements from where they came.
