17. Solitude is a choice

Vivkta-deśa-sevitvam  Mind likes to be preoccupied So it can escape from itself Jumping thoughts is its nature Jumping places is a happy creature Avenues of escape may differ Some may drink and party Some may aimlessly travel  Some may just change channel Escaping from emotions is universal Finding peace within is valuable One has to be still to reflect One has to be quiet to recollect Come to terms in solitude Contemplate and resolve in solitude Appreciate gratitude in solitude Change attitude in solitude Solitude is not loneliness Solitude is only ness Solitude is a choice Pause, reflect and rejoice Inspiration - The Value of Values book- Swami Dayananda Saraswati

Three mirrors- Known, Knower and Means of Knowledge

Known, Knower & Means of Knowledge  It was a summer morning Sun is bright and shining White wall soaking in light But no one was in sight  Suddenly appears an orb of mirror  Swirling and dancing comes closer Gets the name as an 'object' Sun and the wall don't object Another mirror comes for fun Borrows the light from the sun This orb sees that orb glow And claims the identity as ' I know' Third mirror opens as 'eyes' Hey it is me! The means of knowledge You better acknowledge! Multiple orbs of mirror glow Multiple thoughts come and go 'As though'  they lit up the wall But the wall is already lit up Wall is lit up by the sun Bhuddhi is lit by the Brahman Formless Brahman 'as though' morphs  Again and again into multiple thoughts Momentarily the seer, Then the hearer, Then the thinker, Then the knower! Ahaṇkara renews subscription And claims all certifications Truth is always what is! That 'is' remains as I!

Mahamaya

Maya is not a mystical name  Not a Mexican restaurant of fame Not just a civilization of antiquity Not a movie theater of modernity  Maya, google brings out many hits  Everything comes in motion seems to fit Maya continues to hide and seek But, truth is available for those who seek Maya performs two functions They work in conjunction One is to put a covering of veil  (āvaraṇa) That can make us weil Another is to project  (vikṣepa) That leave us wrecked Guru teaches us how to understand the mysterious maya At the individual level,  the veil of covering  that keeps us hovering is the unconscious mind Love it up! Say never mind!  Work on the projections! Continue deep reflections! Decrease the subjectivity! Increase the objectivity! At the collective level, Ignorance is the darkness Leaves us in complete starkness But just a spark of knowledge  Removes it in one sweep  The projections continues  just like everyday sunrise You enjoy the...

Nameless and Formless

I am neither the daughter nor the mother I am neither the sister nor the wife I am neither the friend nor the neighbor  I am that Brahman, nameless and formless. I am neither the doctor nor the patient  I am neither the student nor the teacher  I am neither the writer nor the reader  I am that Brahman, nameless and formless.  I am neither the doer nor the enjoyer  I am neither the waker nor the dreamer  I am neither the sleeper nor the actor  I am that Brahman, nameless and formless. I am neither a jīva nor a samsāri I am neither a gṛhastha nor a sanyasi I am neither born nor will be dead I am that Brahman, nameless and formless. I am neither Lakshmi nor Adisakti  I am neither employed nor retired  I am neither the giver nor the receiver  I am that Brahman, nameless and formless. I am that consciousness that pervades everything  I am that consciousness that manifests as everything  I am that consciousness that witnesses ev...

Game changer

May I surrender to the non dual one primal source  May I play along the dual nature of Maya’s force May I love the tricolor gunas woven in this tapestry  May I embrace the four Vedas with their majesty  May I acknowledge the five elements that is reminiscent  May I understand the six attributes of the omniscient  May I follow the wisdom of seven sages up to the destination  May there be protection in all eight directions  May the indweller of this nine hole city be known May the actions of ten indriyas be outgrown May I accept what is as Isvara with gratitude  May I continue to perform with a change in attitude  May I embrace the new name Adisakti May that open the path of bhakti and mukti May that resonate with the truth of self knowledge  May all obstacles be removed in this path of self knowledge  May there be more of you in me as me  May there be understanding to just be

All is one consciousness!

All is one consciousness!  The so-called universe, nature, God! Sentient and insentient things that are odd, The changing color of the trees,  The flowing nature of the breeze, The placid reflection in the lake,  The tall, peaked mountains, not fake,  The roaring waves of the ocean,  The changing landscape of notions,  The people, their behaviors everywhere,  The crazy desires that arise from nowhere,  The conscious and the unconscious mind,  That constantly to be told, never mind! The bodies that want beauty surgeries,  The bodies that want longevity procedures,  The blue zones with so many centenarians,  The desserts with no life capabilities,  The thought that is yet to arise, The silence that is between the thoughts!  All is one consciousness!

Oh! my little twin! What is your name?

A small little bird,  flapping the wings flew over the ocean. Eating the berries, enjoying the views, collected many notions. Sharing same ideas, married another bird, built a beautiful nest. Nestling and fledgling; lot of joy, before you know, it was time to fly, the busy nest slowly emptied out. No hunters to throw a net, but the network of societal norms  urging the bird, continue to perform.  A wise Guru showing the light therein,  'Caged bird' looked within, found a silent soulmate twin. Oh! my little twin! What is your name? What name do you claim? Can I be called by that name? Can that be my spiritual name? Can that be my pen name? That nameless twin  witnessed all the drama, in a formless pajama! Been there all the time! will be there beyond time! It is the tail that is prime! 16. Graceful Acceptance

Mayi ananya-yogena b haktih avyabhicarini I am not odd; I am devoted to God I am non separate from the Lord I have unswerving devotion to Īśvara I take refuge in God, to be free from Samsara Multiple laws visible and invisible made by the wiz I act with the free will; but will accept the result as is Graceful acceptance is the prasāda-buddhi  That is the way for chitta suddhi  All prayers are answered  Sometimes the answer is no  Sometimes the answer is not yet Knowing this, is a big asset Acceptance make us respond better Reacting in haste can restrain with fetter Conflict between thought and deed Painful emotions can built up indeed Mind that is quiet and receptive Can master the mood, and be perceptive Attitude determines one's altitude Let us accept the results with gratitude  Inspiration - The Value of Values book- Swami Dayananda Saraswati

How did it enter?

How did it enter? Was it because it is the cause? Was it because it is the effect? Was it the chicken or egg? Was it the plant or seed? Was it there before creation or after? Did it enter like the clay entering pots? Did it enter like the gold entering ornaments? Or is it like hand entering the mouth? Did it enter through front door or back door? Where did it come from? Was it from outside or inside? Was it from above or below? Was it like color conditioned in the crystal? Was it like the sun reflected in water? Was it limited and separated to enter from one to another? NO It is the one without the second!  It is the causeless cause! It is the effortless effect! It is the absolute reality! It is the egg and the chicken! It is the seed and the plant! It is the clay projecting as pots! It is gold shining as ornaments! It is you without any parts! It is there in the front and the back! It is there always before and after! It is there even before space and time! It is limitless ...

15. Sameness of the mind

Nityam Samacittatvam Iṣṭaniṣṭopapattiṣu Sameness of the mind in the wake of likes & dislikes Sameness of the mind to success & failures Sameness of the mind to joy & sorrow Sameness of the mind in all situations Maintain the sameness always  Maintain the sameness with appraise Accept results as they come factually Reduce subjectivity, so naturally and actually The story of a philosopher goes on with a series of responses of 'what' and 'so what' When 'what?' becomes 'so what?' Life is easy to live without a jut Human strength is not in powerful miracles It is in the quiet mind that faces situations A poised mind with minimal projections appreciate the teachings with no misconceptions Viveka is knowing the difference  Between apparent reality and absolutely reality Withdraw the projections as in when they arise Enjoy the knowledge as in when it arise Inspiration - The Value of Values book- Swami Dayananda Saraswati

Ode to Gulab Jamun

Ode to Gulab Jamun ‘Tis the season to be jolly Music, dance, sweets, and dolls  Balls of calories nicely fried Help! deep in the hot oil, they cried. A holey spoon is dipped in the oil, unaffected by the nonstick coat, the spoon, compassionately picked them, dropped in the sugar syrup Left them to immerse in the nectar Restless jamuns bob up and down, wanting to run around the city and town In that process, some may brake down while others soak patiently until dawn Fried balls are the jivas in the oil of samsara Holy Guru takes them out of the notion of samsara Knowledge of oneness is the three-string sugar syrup  Soaking in it, are the sweet Gulab Jamuns!
