12. Limitations of life

Janma-mrtyu-jarā-vyādhi-dukha-doṣanudarśanam Knowing the limitations of life Is the greatest blessing of life Seeing the inseparable mirror-twin Birth and death together built in Part by part activity slows to dim Old age and disease spare no one Sorrow sometimes begins before birth  And continues as a life long companion Sorrow arise from three sources One being within, another from surroundings Third one is from super natural power Together they attack the tower You cannot fritter them away You understand they are here to stay Time is the biggest gift given Use it wisely to know the ultimate If you master time, You are a swami! You can drive your ship away from tsunami You reach your goal despite the odds You are free to be one with the Gods Inspiration - The Value of Values book- Swami Dayananda Saraswati

11. Freedom from I- Identification

Freedom from I- Identification (Anahaṅkāraḥ) Individuality is denoted as ahaṅkāra  Freedom from that is anhaṅkāra Free from that I- Identification Relative absence of that fixation Sheer ignorance brings out the ego Objectivity allows the ego to go Ego comes out with aggrandizement Claiming name on all accomplishments Ignorance is the capital with which 'I' ego begins 'I' maintain the capital throughout the life Knowledge is discovered by removing ignorance Just like how darkness is chased away by light  Parents, teachers, neighbors, schools Friends, relatives, acquaintances, circumstances Everything contributes to the outcome Yet ego claims as the author of the result Graced by free will, I choose my actions Result is a probability among the possibilities Past, present, known and unknown circumstances Operate in concert for the given consequence  Humility is the simple understanding Of the world including myself as it is I am neither be proud nor will I self condem...

Happy Unbirthday!

I am birthless.  I am deathless. I am aware of the body.  It ages and feels groggy. I am aware of the mind.  All I say is, oh never mind! I am aware of the senses.  They jump out of the fences. I am aware of the intellect. It never likes neglect. I am aware of the emotions. They evolve out of subjective notions. I am aware of the ego.  It is the one which is very hard to let go.  Body is a tool of action and cognition. I am the conscious being who wields it. Body is a breathing statue. I neither pamper it; nor neglect it. Body is a field of pain and pleasure. I respect it as a sacred trust of nature. Body ages with time and finally perishes. I am the awareness in which everything shines. Mind is historic, I am the true existence. Mind is an appearance; I am the true being. Mind is limited to the body; l am limitless and whole. Mind is time bound; I am the joy that is ever timeless. Mind swings between past and future, I am the being in the eternal now....
